WRCTE's Vocational Cosmetology program offered in partnership with Thompson's College of Cosmetology is a comprehensive Cosmetology training program.  We follow all the same standards and guidelines that every Cosmetology program in Indiana is required to follow.  The program requires 1500 hours of theory and practical hands-on skills training.

During year one, students will gain an introduction to cosmetology with emphasis on hair cuts, hair styling, chemical services, nail technology, and esthetics.  In the second semester, greater emphasis is placed on the application and development of these skills.

In year two, we cover the development of advanced skills in styling, chemical services, nail technology and esthetics.  Students will also study anatomy and physiology, professionalism, interpersonal skills, and salon management in relation to cosmetology.

The total class is equivalent to 8 high school credits per year when taking Cosmetology I & II the first year and III & IV the second year.  Students can also receive 28 credits to be applied towards the Cosmetology Management Associates Degree at Vincennes University.  If the student is interested in continuing their education with Vincennes, they must pass the Accuplacer test and then they can complete the remaining credits at Vincennes University to complete their Associates Degree once they've graduated from TCC.

Once they've successfully completed Cosmetology I-IV at TCC, students will be eligible to take the Indiana State Licensure exam to become a licensed Cosmetologist.  There are many job opportunities within the Cosmetology field and students can specialize in many different areas of interest such as hair coloring, cutting, nail technician, lash technician or other options.  We also offer free Beauty Culture Instructor training for students that may be interested in teaching Cosmetology.

This program is an amazing opportunity for high school students that are truly interested in a Cosmetology career.  As a high school student, the cost of the program is covered mostly by the WRCTE, and the out of pocket cost is greatly reduced in comparison to the cost for adult students.  Total fees for the WRCTE Cosmetology Program include $500 due the first year and $600 due the second year.   If you are interested in learning more about our program, please feel free to contact us at the school, 765-569-5504, or reach out to Mrs. Kindsvatter at 765-376-1908.
